What could the experience of an online shopping destination be, with complete social integration?
Have you ever encountered a business whose core metric was revenue per minute? Me neither until I met QVC and got a behind scenes tour of their operations. QVC has always been an innovator, constantly testing new ways of delivering the shopping experience, so it was no surprise when they wanted to explore social shopping in greater depth.
This assignment was fun. We got to explore the next frontier of shopping online and bring it into focus for QVC in a manner that top executives could sell the initiative internally. Given that 80% of QVC.com visitors are existing customers, a key component was considering how to leverage the social graph, emerging social behaviors and sharing to reach net new online customers.
The outcome was a solution that leveraged the trends of decentralized experiences that are custom, personal and portable, packaged in a presentation-ready visual story.
